This week is a
crazy one for the kids and teachers. We
have a full moon, Halloween parties, red ribbon week festivities, and even our
school Blue Jay store day. Despite all
the crazy activities we are still managing to get some teaching in!
I wanted to
share some of our activities so far this week.
One thing my kids love is doing science projects, so the dissolving
pumpkin candy was a hit today. If you
have some extra time to try this in your class the kids will love it. I was so surprised by the outcome. Let’s just say that no one thought that one
of the pumpkins would actually disappear.
They were in awe.
They were all
pretty intrigued by this experiment.
Talk about student engagement.
We let the
pumpkins set the four different types of liquid (water, oil, vinegar, and milk)
for about 30 minutes and this is what they looked like. Of course one of my kiddos suggested leaving
it during recess and seeing what would happen after an hour. We actually had one disappear. I won’t ruin the surprise, but the kids were
amazed and called it magic!

We had a day
full of Franken Fun on Tuesday and Mrs. Cara Carroll has the most adorable
Franken Pudding activity that the kids loved.
Not only did they get to make a snazzy snack with a Frankenstein theme,
but they also got to practice sequencing skills and following directions. This
activity was educational, hit our weekly standard of sequencing and the kids loved
getting a special treat at the end of the day.

We also used the
book Crankenstein in our morning meeting and discussed the things that make us
cranky. Can you guess which one was
mine? I loved the little boy that said shopping with his mom.
