Grandparents Day & Tattle Tongue Lesson

I was busy at work this week in my classroom preparing for Grandparents Day.  I always love how excited the kids get to see their grandma’s and grandpa’s walk through our classroom door.  The kids worked extra hard on their ribbons they made for their extra special grandparents.  I saw this idea on Pinterest, but decided to take their pics holding a #1 grandparent sign.  The grandparents loved these and they were a huge hit.  I pretty much let the kids go crazy with glitter and stickers, so it was a sure win!

I always try to have some kind of craft activity for the kids to do with their grandparents and I am pretty sure I will be doing this one for years to come.  It was super cheap, easy, cute and way better then the Popsicle stick picture frames with foam stickers. (BORING)…
We made family trees and I let the kids take them home for a keepsake.  The parents loved these : )  I used paint prints of their hands to make the tree and used stamp pads for the leaves.  Each person in the family gets a leaf and their name next to it.  I always see something similar to this at weddings but put a twist on it foe the classroom.

Also this week our class was selected as the Principal All Star Class, so we needed something cute and fun to put on the brag board.  The brag board is a board that is outside of the office and every month the principal features a classroom.  The kids love it because their work is on display right when you enter the school for all to see.  We did a cute mini lesson on tattling and we used the book Bad Case of Tattle Tongue.  If you haven’t read this book to your class it is a must have.  The kids loved it and many of them believed there was a tattle prince.  Too cute.  Here is a peak of how our lesson and board turned out.

I should have a few new units up this week and I will post them soon.  They are almost done.  Also, spread the word about my Ovarian Cancer Benefit sale going on right now at my Teachers Notebook Shop.
