Classroom Snapshots - The First Week

Well I can officially say I finished my classroom up and survived the first week of school.  I plan to be blogging a lot more now that I am back in my classroom and lesson planning.  I felt a bit lost this summer and my mind wasn’t even on school.  I am happy to back and getting a new group of kiddos is always fun.
Well, I did decide to change my camping them this year to more of a color theme.  I always get so tired of “school theme rooms” so I decided to go with something a little more fun and sassy1
Here are some quick pics of my room….

My reading area

I plan to put their pictures up by their birthday months

My CAFÉ Board

Reading is sweet board
(Lindsay over at Teacher Wife came up with this)

I haven’t added the candy to the rings yet but it is great motivation for the kiddos to read 100 minutes

My theme is Peace, Love, & First Grade with a zebra twist!

I found this super cute jewelry holder at Gordman’s and snagged it to hold my magnetic letters for my Work on Words Wall.

I love this classroom promise...Thank you Debbie Miller for your awesome ideas.  I love the one that says we promise not to scare each other...Hey, I took everything.

My Pinterest DIY Projects

I made this bench for about 8 bucks and it was so easy.  My kids love this in the reading center.

I love zebra print duck tape and lime green spray paint!

My husband cut down 4 old stools we had in our basement and I spray painted the legs and recovered them.  They are perfect at my small group table.

I will be posting a couple of shape sorting activities for free next week and 2 new Treasures reading units.  Come back and visit soon.  I will be blogging a lot more.

Also….Ovarian Cancer awareness month in September and I will be running my store sale again.  All of my profits the month of September go to GYNCA.  Check out their website below to learn more about where your money goes.

Here is a new and favorite picture of my mom and me.  If you would like to get involved the month of September and host store sales too just let me know.  Pass the word along.

  2. Hi Lauren,
I'm a teacher of 20 years and my 21st year I have moved to 1st grade! I am loving your blog and all your adorable ideas. I saw the one "I Can't Wait to Learn S'more About You." Was wondering if you had a template for that? Thanks so much!
    I'll be checking back!
