Connecting Through Character

Hello all you teacher friends!  I must admit I have been a little on the procrastinating side lately.  I have not blogged in over a week, but with good reason.  I actually feel like I have not had that many exciting things happening.  We have been testing like crazy, grades are due on Tuesday, and we are getting ready for parent teacher conferences.  Talk about a jammed pack week.  On top of all the craziness our school did get a pretty amazing phone call this week.  Are you ready for it?????  We were officially nominated for a National School of Character.  I know, exciting right?  I have been pretty excited to blog about this one.  The kids are so pumped about all of this too.  There were only 23 schools selected out of the United States, so we are feeling pretty awesome right about now.  We should know before school lets out if we earned this accomplishment.  I will keep you posted.

To celebrate my school receiving this great news I have decided to send a little character freebie your way.  One of the things our school does a lot of is home school connection through character education.  I have included a 15 page packet with parent letters and activities that we do at our school.  Hopefully you can incorporate some of these ideas into your school.  Our kids love to get these short and easy projects, plus they make wonderful student, family, and school created displays.  Here is an example of one of the activities.

The students put together their flowers at home and bring them back into school.  When all the flowers are brought in I make a little garden outside my classroom labeled, "Mrs. Blackmon's Class is Growing with Good Manners".  There are 6 projects included in this packet.  If you would like the Publisher/Editable document just let me know.  I tried to make it pretty generic, so you could sign your name and pick your due date.  Click the image below to get yours.

I hope you have a wonderful week!  Be sure to post this great freebie on Pinterest

  1. Love your focus on character. Is there anyway to download it? Google isn't allowing it right now. I know they have been having problems. Thanks for sharing.

  6. You can email me at pnewman51@gmail.com. Thanks a bunch. Our school implemented PBIS two years ago and we're beginning with Character Counts too. This would be super for my first graders. Pat
