Cute Snowman Theme Activities & FREE!

Last week I did a day that was all snowman themed and I thought I would share some of the ideas.  I shared a sneak peak of my snowman compare and contrast idea last week, but I wanted to share some of my kiddos finished products.  They turned out so cute.  I even came up with a corny teacher saying to hang up next to the snowman pals.

This was pretty corny...but it went well with the snowman pals!

We also made a snowman snazzy snack.  I used three powdered sugar donuts, M&M candies, chocolate chips, and pretzel sticks for the arms.  I left my pretzels at home so this is an armless snowman, but still very delicious.  The kids love fun little snacks like this and it’s even better if it goes with a theme or the objective you are teaching.   Thanks Lisa for bringing in all the goodies to make these.

I also have a fun little freebie for all you bloggers out there.  After taking our nonsense word assessment we (our grade level) realized that we had a very big problem….Our kids couldn’t decode nonsense words.  Ahhh!  The results were scary.  We decided to make an effort to put this into our daily lessons and small group work.  Here is the snowball nonsense word game I made.  I am using it in our RTI groups and as a Daily 5 work on words station.  Just click the picture below to download your freebie.  I hope everyone in enjoying there VERY CRAZY last week or so of teaching.  I am getting pretty excited about that Christmas break.

  4. Hello ! Just discovered your blog and love the snowmen and your Christmas ideas (I will be wrapping some books, love it :) thanks for sharing....
I just read your profile and it always amazes the little things you find out. You mentioned Patricia Polacco. I met a retired Librarian this past summer when we were visiting Michigan. She mailed me a book by Patricia, "Welcome Comfort". It was actually written about the librarian and her husband...small world !! I had never heard of Patricia Polacco before....
Nice to 'meet' you and I will be visiting your blog again :)

  7. Love, love, love - everytime I try to "follow" your blog it says I'm following, but then I can't find it in my google reader. Then I click "follow" again and it looks like I was never following in the first place. UGH. Sometimes Blogger is wonky like that. I'll keep trying - but wanted you to know so you didn't think I was "cheating" in your giveaway!!! ;)
